Bad Reichenhall - Complete relaxation in the well-known salt and spa town!
Amid the Bavarian Alps, at the foot of the Predigtstuhl mountain, you will find Bad Reichenhall at an altitude of 473 m. Just a stone's throw away from Salzburg, the modern salt and spa town provides the ideal setting for real relaxation. With the Floriani square and pedestrian area which starts at the town hall square, the historical town centre invites you on a pleasant stroll. The philharmonic orchestra and Rupertus Therme spa and fitness resort top off the offer. Furthermore, typical Bavarian cuisine tempts with specialities such as roast pork and "Krustenhaxe". The wonderful winter landscape with snow-covered mountains and glistening mountain lakes entice you on a leisurely walk. Not surprisingly, Bad Reichenhall was awarded Alpine Town in 2001.
SkiThe Berchtesgaden region provides its guests with six ski areas, which are included in the lift pass of the same name. Approx. 40 km of piste at altitudes between 610 and 1,800 m and 23 lifts can be used, depending on what you feel like!
Pros like to start at the 1,800 m high summit station of mount Jenner, as not only great steep runs can be found, but also brilliant deep-snow and freeride areas. The leisurely pistes at Hochschwarzeck are perfect for families. Fans of flood-lit skiing have the opportunity to enjoy what's on offer at Obersalzberg, Götschen and Rossfeld until the evening hours. The 6 km long valley descent from Rossfeld to Oberau is great for beginners (only possible with adequate snow conditions). Boarders gather at Götschen for the boarder park with a 120 m long halfpipe.
Due to its descents suitable for the World Cup and as the popular venue for tobogganing, bob-sledding and snowboard world championships, the ski area relishes in its international reputation! The ski area Zinken offers the chance to ski in neighbouring Austria. With the lift pass you can access one ski area per day.
In Bad Reichenhall you can enjoyably round off the day with exquisite dishes and drinks in one of the cafés or restaurants. An additional real highlight is an evening tour through the old saline and town. With live music at the philharmonia and the "Tanzcafé am Kurgarten", fine wine and cocktails in the "Axel-Bar" or a night at the "Tiffany Tanz Bar", there is something for everyone here. A visit to the casino also promises high entertainment value! For all the real night owls, a trip to nearby Salzburg is really worth the effort.
The trails available in Berchtesgaden are very diverse. The region offers a total of 100 km of runs of varying difficulties. The high altitude trail "Scharitzkehl" beneath the Hoher Göll massif is particularly impressive and runs over 5.1 km at 1,000 m altitude to Obersalzberg. A further high-altitude run goes between Hochschwarzeck and Ramsau at 1,100 m high.
In Bad Reichenhall you will find the start to two different tracks. The cross-country trail Marzoll is 3.8 km long and ideal for beginners, just as the 1.4 km long but flat trail Karlstein.
