Hanover (German: Hannover) is situated on the river Leinen and is the capital of the federal Lower Saxony, Germany.
With a population of 522,944 (2007) inhabitants, is an important city in northern Germany, known as host of important annual trade exhibitions such as the Hannover Fair and CeBIT. Every year Hanover hosts Hannover Schützenfest, practice different shooting sports festival and Oktoberfest Hannover (the second magnitude in the world).
Hanover has a significant regional importance, due to its universities and faculty of medicine, and zoo huge international airport. It is also an important road and rail junction in Europe.
Among the most famous attractions in town include the Royal Gardens Herrenhausen. Gardens are composed of large garden, European Baroque Palace, mostly destroyed by Allied bombing, cave, building the gallery, and two pavilions Orangery Remy from Fosse. Great Garden consists, in turn, of several parts. The most popular are "high ground" and "New Garden" (Jardin Nouveau Fr.). Nouveau Jardin hosting in its center, the tallest fountain in Europe.
Berggarten is an important botanical garden. The most interesting parts of the gardens are "Tropical House", "Casa Cactus," Casa Canaria "and" House of Orchids', which house some of the largest thematic collection in the world.
With more than 4,000 members, Kestnergesellschaft, is the largest company of artists from Germany. The museum houses works from the classical modernist art to contemporary art.
